RF PATH

JUST A CALC

JUST A CALC

A graph with lightning bolts and a metallic pointer.

RF Path provides propagation loss calculation for radio frequencies (RF) between 20 MHz and 20 GHz using either the Irregular Terrain Model (ITM), Okumura-Hata, COST-231 Hata Extension, or the COST-231 Walfish-Ikegami models. The calculations are based on both electromagnetic theory and the statistical analysis of terrain chacteristics to calculate the degradation of the RF wave as a function of distance and the variability of the RF wave with respect to time and space.

The Irregular Terrain Model has two different prediction models. One is the point-to-point mode specific latitude/longitude pair values are entered for both transmitter and receiver. Environmental and statistical parameters are used in this prediction mode.

In the point-to-point prediction model a table along with a graph shows the path loss and elevation profile of the RF path.

The second is the Area Prediction mode which calculates propagation losses over an area where the exact terrain parameters are not known, but approximated using terrain roughness, environmental and statistical parameters.

In the Area Prediction mode a table along with a graph shows the path loss over the distance entered into the settings

The results graph is enlarged by touching the graph in the Results Table view. The results may be saved to iCloud, emailed, or posted to social sites. The results are in CSV format.

Calculator function symbols in 3D style.

This is Just A Calculator, nothing more, nothing less!

The calculator will perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage calculations, and find the square root. This calculator allows a maximum of 38 digits to the right of the decimal and a maximum of 12 digits to the left of the decimal.

This was developed primarily for the iPhone, however it will work on any iOS device.
